On the 22nd January 2026 i posted the 4NCL Online 4th Division games, i just on the 17th February 2026 got beat i game 3 vs Alex Banks who plays very well. I am making horendous blunders at the momment and continue in the game which can be seen on the underlined game 3 loss text, on the 22nd mentioned links and games.

On the weekend of the 13th February 2026 to the 15th February, I played in the Blackpool Open, I got 1 bye point only and lost my repairing match with a person who regularly plays in opens, the retired union leader Derek Simpson so in effect I got 0/5 with all the I told you sos coming from the usual suspects. There was an answer to my position at the end of my 5th February 2026 game in the Fhunfi monthly 60 30 Swiss round 3 but the answer definetely wasnt to give my queen away. It was a difficult position but I must do better. The game is somewhat below on the 1st december post underlining of game 3 loss.

On the 3rd February 2026, I was reserve and didnt get to play in the 4NCL Online League, our team beat Watford 3.5-0.5, the link to the 22nd January 2026 series of games has been updated (without any game being uploaded).

On the 2nd February 2026, the 90 30 swiss Fhunfi set up, in his regular event reached round 5 and i lost a difficult game, i was outplayed throughout, the game is game 5 loss underlined in the 4th december 2025 post a bit below. I am on 3/5 going into the final round.

On the 25th January 2026, I was in the Malpas and Friends team in the final 2 events of the World Chess League on chess.com, we did enough to get to the next round the last 16 match series a ko series of matches leading to a final match if we get through to the quarter finals then semi then final, I am not sure I will make the team though in the coming rounds.

On the 24th January 2026, I travelled for an otb Rapidplay in Lancaster and got 1.5/6, the 1 point was a bye but I got another draw vurses the esteemed author Barry Hymer in round 4...

On the 22nd January 2026, I played a game in the Fhunfi organised 45 45 Swiss starting in November 2025(see the game 5 win on the 27th November post below). I won the game sacrificing a knight early on for the attack, in the end he rather capitulated in a won position with a series of fatal (methaphorically) errors.

On the 20th January 2026, the Online 4NCL League started with round 1 which was a spectacular win against a junior, i won a Queen(for a Bishop), then a Rook and finally a Bishop before checkmating him, all in 17 moves. Malpas and Friends(our team) won the match 4 - 0 against a Colchester junior team(Colchester JFF B)

On the 18th January 2026, I won a spectacular result against an 1800 strength player. a german called Mrabendroth, in the 90 30 time control swiss run by my coach. I spotted i was won from a while out and my 1 brillant move and 4 great moves and 33 best moves with no blunders was an excellent review of a 2300 standard play according to chess.com. On the 17th January 2026, (a saturday), I pulled off an awfully depressing loss by one of my most disasterous moves ever a turn around of 13 points in a move from 3 points up to 10 points down, the move looked so promising as well at first sight. The game was played in the 45 45 swiss run by my coach, my opponent played near faultlessly after the initial early blunder of a piece it was very suspicious.the game is shown under the game 4 link under the 27th November post below a bit...

On the 13th of January 2026, I got a draw with Charles Lowick Higgie in a simultaneous he played 5 people online. In the end I was lucky to get the draw but i missed a clear win...the game is immediately below:-

On the 3rd January, in the 60 30 monthly tournament set up by my trainer, i won game 2 quite convincingly with a lucky tactic. The game can be seen under the 1st december tag the game 2 link.

In 2026 at the start of the year in January and February I go to play otb in the Lancaster Rapidplay Open then Blackpool Open approaching the second week in February. I am also playing a promising junior in training matches online and being paid 25 dollars per game.

On the 1st January 2026(New Years Day), I played an American player in the Fhunfi 90 30 Swiss and won with a long tough game, game 3 can be seen below in the 4th december notes.

I had a busy day Tuesday 30th December 2025 as I had a draw in a training match 60 30 time control vs a top junior from canada an d I also finished 5th out of 19 in another training match to practice for the Malpas and Friends world chess League team. I got 16 points, top was IM Paul Littlewood on 21.

On the 27th December 2025, I played a Polish player in the Fhunfi 90 30 Swiss and won with a spectacular Queen sacrifice, game 2 can be seen below in the 4th december notes.

On the 26th December I played an American with the handle bshoot in the 45 45 Fhunfi Swiss and got beat, though I had a chance to have an advantage, the game is game 3 a bit below in the 27th November comment.

On the 20th December 2025, I played in a series of 4 Online Blitz Tournaments of 3 2 time control in the Isle of Wight Christmas Blitz. In the first two I got 3.5/9 in both and in the last 2 tournaments I got 4/9 totalling 15/36 points and finishing around 30th out of around 50 strong players each round but my overal result was an amazing 11th out of 93 and can be seen here.

On the 11th December I played an Irishman with the handle Condor34 in the 45 45 Fhunfi Swiss and got a win though there was a mistake in the setting up of the game that neither of us spotted till it was too late-it didnt have the 45 second increment, the game is game 2 a bit below in the 27th November comment.

In a real tough game online in the 90 30 fhunfi tournament(my trainer) on wednesday 19th November 2025, i finished with a loss(for the game see sept 8th comment with link to annotated game(game 6 underlined), my tournament score was 4/6 and i came high up.

On tuesday 18th November 2025, I played in another Online National League(4NCL) 45 15 game and got my first win ever after 5 online games in it. The team won as well this was against Leyland, this time it was obvious my opponent didnt cheat(it hasnt been obvious before) and i played badly too missing a few obvious moves to be played almost gifting him a draw from a superior position. On saturday the 8th November 2025, i played in the Golders Green Rapidplay Open playing very strong opponents all drastically underated. I got a miserable 0/6 but was in most of the games, my nearest to victory is given below:-

In the Fhunfi(my trainers handle) 90 30 September 2025 Swiss, on the 6th October 2025, I struggled to convert an advantage but eventually managed it in the 5th round. I am now on 4/5 and amongst the leaders of around 50 competitors many 1700+ rated. The game can be found by scrolling down to the september 8th comment and clicking on game 5 link

A game was played in the ongoing 4NCL Online League I lost for the Malpas and Friends team against the War and Piece Nimrod team, i played board 3 and we won 2.5-1.5, my game is below:-

This time a first place in a chess.com rapidplay tournament with 99 players from around the world, i get a 5/5 score -it ws just a casual tournament with some 2000 plus players. it was held on the 30th October 2025.

Above is a screenshot from a tournament played online in Blitz on the chess.com website- this was against 78 players some well over 2000 rated, i finished in 3rd(Bronze) spot, i did even better in a tournament very similar a few weeks ago, coming in 2nd(silver).the one with bronze was held on the night of the 28th october 2025.

On the 25th October 2025, I played and won in Chein Mings(my trainer) 90 30 Online Swiss round 4, the game is just below the 8th september 2025 comment showing all the games.

On the 21st of October 2025 I got whopped again in the Online 4NCL League. I was in the Malpas and Friends team against the Epson Salties 1(in division 4 of season 12), being on board 2 as white, the team lost 1.5-2.5, the game is below:-

On the 18th and 19th of October 2025, i was playing in the otb 4NCL League in Dudley for The Full Ponty team, we won 6-0 (with me white on board 5) against a junior team called the Apprentice Woodpushers, but in round 2 we met our match in a tough fellow welsh team called Castell Nedd we lost 2.5-3.5 with me losing on board 5 as black. On the 11th October 2025, I played in the 90 30 Online Swiss that i mentioned below on the 8th September -it was round 3 and i found out my opponent couldnt play in a similar 45 45 online swiss for this round so we agreed an off board draw. In the same 45 45 swiss I cannot make the next round as i am going to play in the otb 4NCL(national) League in dudley on the weekend of the 17th to 19th of October, i am playing as board 6(of 6) for The Full Ponty team(in Division 4), on the 21st October I play for the 4NCL online League for Malpas and Friends on board 2 of 4 also in Division 4 and i go down to london to play in the golders green rapidplay on the 8th November 2025

On the 7th October 2025, I played in the 4NCL Online League Season 12 round 3, for the team Malpas and Friends against the team Wessex G, on board 1 of 4 boards, the time control was 45 mins with 15 second increment after every move, i lost being outplayed by a 14 yo in the endgame and the team lost 2.5-1.5. On the 28th September 2025, I played in the Chess.com world club arena for the Malpas and friends team i finished 87th out of 269 players and the team finished 11th. i got 3 wins 2 draws and 2 loses.

On the 27th September 2025, I played the 2nd round game in my chess trainers(Chien Mings) 90 30 swiss online on chess.com, it was spectacular and the annotated game is given a bit further below on the 8th September comments.

On the 23rd September 2025, I played in the 4NCL Online League Season 12 round 2, for the team Malpas and Friends against the team Worcester Wolfpack C on board 3 of 4 boards, the time control was 45 mins with 15 second increment after every move, i drew and the team won 3.5-0.5 to leave us 5th in division 4. In the third and final Global Chess League on the 21st September 2025, I finished in 28th place with 43 points out of 268 players.

A game played online, I am white and win quickly.

On the 14th September 2025, I finished 41st out of 161 in the Global Chess League second arena. I got 29 points.

On the 13th September 2025, I came 31st out of 280 in the Global Chess League first arena of three. I got 47 points.

Hello folks, I am going to have a busy time of it mainly online in the coming weeks, my itennary for before Christmas, is today 13th the 14th and the 21st September are Global Chess League days when I compete probably unsuccessfully in an online series of 5 0 3 hour arenas. every week or so I'll be playing in Chien Mings online tournaments as stated below, and on the 23rd September I will be playing the first of a number of games for the Malpas and Friends 4NCL(ie national) League online. In October 18th and 19th I will be playing in my next otb event, a national(4NCL) otb League match in dudley, playing for 'The Full Ponty' team. In November 9th I will be in London playing in the Golders Green Tournament in the rapidplay open section.

1st September 2025- I start an online tournament set up by my trainer its classical time control and I will play the games on my smartboard. Games are 1 every 2 weeks and another tournament online starts in a week of 90 30 tc chess.

update on Frodsham-the in-out shake it all about tourney is off for me because i stupidply gambled all my deposit for the car away, my next tournament is almost certainly the biggie the South Wales international which has almost all been paid for

On the 20th June 2025. News- I am hopefully playing at Frodsham Rapidplay 2025 after all. Watch out for my online ongoing match at the bottom of the page for fridays game it is at 1pm(12pm gmt)(game 5 in South Wales International Training Match with Chein Ming). I will transmit the real time game live immediately below(that is the last game ie 5 in the match):-at the very bottom of the page are the games analysis and running score. Update the game has finished it is at the end of the page and the transmissions have ended for now.

As of the 12th June 2025. I am not going to enter the South Lakes Congress despite it being in my home town. That starts the 13th June. This is because of the politics behind the scenes. And the latest update on the Frodsham Rapidplay is its too late to enter and I still havent found out whether I will get disability on my universal credit claim, so I cancelled it. There is also the problem now with the Lancaster Congress should I not get disability I wont go to that due to lack of funds but that is in the air. One place I will definetely go to is the South Wales International as I have paid 900 pounds non-cancelerable for the hotel and paid all the other payments necessary.

An update on the universal credit payment expected, is that i am now in a better position to maybe go to The Frodsham Rapidplay, i will say here if i end up going.

As of the 6th June 2025-I didnt receive my universal credit payment expected so I am destitute currently-how this impacts on my chess is luckily my next tournament is in Barrow my home town so that isnt impacted but the week later I was going to go to Frodsham rapidplay and due to not having the money needed i am pulling out of that. But the South Wales International is all but paid for so it shouldnt be a problem while hopefully by the 15th of August there shouldnt be a problem with going to Lancaster Standard play. I transmitted game 3 live this day in my match with Chein Ming.

On the 25th May 2025- I beat Keith arkell in a sunday ECF Rapidplay tournament online at chess.com, the game is below. Note I finished joint winner in the tournament with 4/5 but ended up third on tie break. Another win vs an over 2000 rated is given as a video(below the Keith annotated game), I was white in that one.

On 19th May 2025- I have stopped going to my chess club(The Barrow-in-Furness Club) because of a despute during a Cumbria League match over lighting which got out of hand, I am though entering the South Lakes Congress despite the troubles ive had. I am also entering the South Wales International and to prepare for the tournament I am having a training match with my Trainer, Chein Ming. I will update this page as I make progress on that match.
